Massage and Body Treatments
Swedish: The most well-known type of massage. If you have never had a massage before, or are looking for something relaxing, this is the perfect place to start. Swedish Massages are full body massages using anywhere from feather-light to extreme deep pressure. This is typically done at a slow, gentle pace, with some variances based on the individual Therapist's style. The skin is lubricated with natural oils while various massage strokes are incorporated that warm up the muscles and release tension.
Deep Tissue: If you require deeper focused work and don't require a full body massage, you may want to request a Deep Tissue. A variation of Swedish Massage, some clients will comment on momentary discomfort, but then complete relief of their muscle stiffness and pain.
Sports: Although widely popular among athletes, this is not just for the intensively active. Those with injuries, chronic pain, restricted range of motion or who are beginning a new work-out regime, may want to consider this modality. The Therapist generally concentrates on specific problem areas, stimulating circulation of blood and lymph fluids. In some cases trigger point therapy is used to break down the "knots" and stretching is incorporated to help with range of motion.
Prenatal/Pregnancy/Postnatal: For women after the first trimester of pregnancy or who are still in the first few months after delivery, this is a relaxation and hydrating massage. Pillows and bolsters are used to comfortably position a woman on her side while natural oils are used to hydrate the skin as the muscles are kneaded through slow, relaxing strokes. High-risk women, should provide a doctor's written consent prior to a massage.
Therapeutic/Combo: Since we all know that each individual has specific needs, a combination or "Therapeutic Treatment" is often times recommended for clients. By combining various techniques we can better ensure that the total body experience felt by the client is not only relaxing, but addresses specific areas of concern. Whether it is a combination of Swedish and Sports or Deep Tissue with Acupressure, be sure to discuss your needs with us prior to your session.
OTHER BODY TREATMENTS
Reflexology: Generally confused with Massage Techniques, Reflexology works very differently. Instead of manipulating soft tissues of the body, Reflexologists target areas of the body through the use of reflex maps of points found in the feet, hands, face and ears. Using unique techniques such as thumb or finger walking, responses are sent throughout the body, stimulating the nervous system to release tension.
Acupressure: The body's energy runs through channels (or meridians) throughout the entire length of the body. Along these meridians lie points that can be stimulate during an acupressure session. Like Reflexology, various unique techniques are utilized to stimulate the nervous system through applied pressure on these points. Some techniques may include use of the hand, elbow, feet and/or devices.
Detoxing Lymphatic Drainage Massage: (AKA Manual Lymph Drainage Massage) This a very light massage targeting the lymphatic system located directly beneath the skin, encouraging lymph flow in the body. The lymph system delivers nutrients to the cells and carries away excess water, cellular waste, bacteria, viruses and
toxins. By stimulating this system with light, circular pumping movements, the Practitioner helps drain puffy, swollen tissues, supports the body's immune system, helps the body heal from surgery, and aids in the body's natural waste removal or detoxification. It has also been documented as an aid to reduce scar tissue, spider veins, redness and acne. It can be used as part of a facial, massage, or as a whole body treatment.
Body Scrubs: (Full Descriptions of each type are under "Exfoliation") Body Scrubs can be a separate service or added to other services.
Hydrating/Combination: Various elements effect each individual differently. Whether it is excessive sun exposure, harsh chemicals, or allergens, most people will benefit from a Body Hydration Treatment. Either after a body scrub (or as a separate service), you can relax while using a mixture of natural oils, herbs and exfoliants, your skin will be nourished in a rich mixture, customized to your skin's needs.
Reiki/Energy Work: Reiki provides a means to balance energy fields and Chakras to create conditions for the body's natural healing system to function. Practitioners assist clients to heal themselves spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically by a simple laying on of hands. Energy is channeled, allowing it to flow where needed to bring the energy centers into alignment. Although the Practitioner plays an instrumental role, it is ultimately up to the client to manifest harmony and balance in their life. Reiki should be used in conjunction with other forms of Therapeutic Treatments in order to be effective.
Elemental: Using the four elements of Water, Fire, Air and Earth. This relaxing treatment can help bring a client's mind and body back into harmony. Variations of how the elements are incorporated may be used in order to target the needs of the individual.
Facials and Skin Care Treatments

Signature Masks: Most of our masks are made in house using all natural ingredients. A facial mask is targeted to your skin type. In some specialty masks such as Chocolate, Yogurt or Oatmeal, the mask will cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize and tone the skin. These have been a popular alternative for those who have had poor experiences in the past with facials.
EXFOLIATION TREATMENTS (BODY SCRUBS)
Shower Scrub: (Shower Scrub is a 50 minute full priced service and not available for most packages without an up-charge.) The Shower Scrubs take place in our wet room which is equipped with a wet table, tiled floor and a drain. After several minutes in a dry sauna, you will typically be asked to lay face down on the Vichy table. If you have not brought along a bathing suit, you can be draped with towels or relax in the buff.
The Clinician will begin by gently rubbing exfoliant on your back, the backs of your arms and the backs of your legs and feet . After the exfoliant is applied, you will be scrubbed using a course cloth, brush or wash cloth, depending on your sensitivity and comfort level. After the scrub, your will be rinsed, lathered with a natural oil-based soap and then rinsed again. Rinsing is typically done with bowls of water and/or shower head. Then you will turn over and the other side will be worked on. Shower scrubs are a relaxing approach to exfoliation. The various textures create a pampered feeling.
Dry Brush Scrub: Dry brushing stimulates the body’s circulation and lymphatic systems with the use of a soft, natural brush. As a skin treatment, this method of exfoliation has been practiced for hundreds of years and has been popular in Europe for over 30 years. Dry brushing removes more dead skin cells than a shower scrub since water causes the skin to plump up, making it more difficult to exfoliate effectively. This is done on the table, typically prior to a massage or skin conditioning treatment. Benefits include: Makes room for new skin cell growth, improves circulation (creating healthy glow), may help remove damaging toxins from the skin, firms skin, and removes cellulite (if done on regular basis).
Sugar or Salt Scrub: "Dry Scrubs" take place in our Massage Therapy Rooms. Prior to the massage, the Practitioner exfoliates the body with a sugar or salt mixture, customized to the individuals skin type. The exfoliant is rubbed over the skin, one section at a time. After the skin has been "scrubbed", a cleanser and/or toner may be used. The body is then wiped down with hot, moist towels to remove any trace amounts of the sugar or salt. Sugar and salt scrubs are a wonderful way to help the skin develop a healthy glow while allowing it to better absorb moisturizers.
Aromatic Scrub: This gentle scrub is very effective for overall skin health. The Practitioner uses exfoliating gloves and naturally scented cleansers on the body. The technique is similar to a massage. Dead skin cells will be buffed away to reveal the bright and healthy skin beneath. Since the gloves are the main scrubbing agent you won't need sugar or other abrasive products. Complimentary oils or creams are then used to nourish the skin after the scrub.
Skin Conditioning: After an exfoliation, a light toner mist is sprayed, and then you can relax while special oils or creams are applied. Depending on the amount of conditioning needed, you may be wrapped or covered for anywhere from 5 - 30 minutes. The excess oils are removed with warm towels.
Total Body Skin Care Treatment: After a body cleanse, exfoliation and toner mist, you can relax as a body mask is applied to the body. Each step similar to that of a facial, this complete full body treatment is used to aid those suffering from excessively oily or dry skin.
